“Our 50th Anniversary Season is an historic milestone for our organization,” states Yockey. “We are proud to present this fantastic series of productions at Casa Mañana Theatre and the Bass Performance Hall, and are looking forward to a season long celebration of our rich history and even brighter future as one of Fort Worth’s most beloved arts organizations.”

Kicking off the 50th Anniversary Season is Hollywood heart-throb Lorenzo Lamas in The Fantasticks! at Casa Mañana Theatre. This special engagement is to be directed by one of the show’s creators, the legendary Tom Jones. This timeless musical tells the story of a young couple who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling matchmaking fathers, but soon grow restless and stray from one another. Will their separation provide a deeper appreciation for the love they once shared or create a permanent gulf between them? With music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones the show features the beloved songs “Try To Remember,” “Soon It’s Gonna Rain,” “Much More,” and “I Can See It,” The Fantasticks is a celebration of love – first love, lost love, and ultimately, true love – and has delighted audiences across the world, including a record breaking run in New York, where it became the longest running musical production ever! The performance schedule is: Tuesday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 6 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This show is suitable for all audiences.

In July, Casa Mañana is proud to present the North Texas premiere of the Broadway national tour of Avenue Q at the Bass Performance Hall. The show was Broadway’s smash-hit in 2004 and the Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. A hilarious show, full of heart and hummable tunes, Avenue Q tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone’s looking for the same things he is: a decent job, a stable relationship, and a “purpose.” Called “one of the funniest shows you’re ever likely to see” by Entertainment Weekly, Avenue Q features a cast of people - and puppets - who tell the story in a smart, risqué and downright entertaining way. The New Yorker calls it “Subversive and uproarious!” The performance schedule is: Tuesday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, July 11 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Adult humor, comic vulgarities and language. Not recommended for young children. To learn more about Avenue Q, please visit www.AvenueQ.com.

In August, the incomparable Lou Diamond Phillips returns to Casa Mañana Theatre to star in Damn Yankees, a devilishly clever musical comedy! A middle aged man finds himself endlessly frustrated that his beloved baseball team is constantly thwarted by the New York Yankees. In desperation, he sells his soul to the Devil (Phillips) for a chance to lead his team to victory in the pennant race against those damn Yankees. Though his dreams of success and fame get closer every day, he finds himself yearning more and more for the life, and the wife, he left behind. Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Damn Yankees features the classic songs, “Heart,” “Two Lost Souls,” “Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, MO,” “Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets,” and “Those Were The Good Old Days.” The performance schedule is: Tuesday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, August 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, August 15 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This show is suitable for all audiences.

In September, the most popular Broadway national touring production returns to the Bass Performance Hall. A mother…a daughter…and three possible dads can only mean one thing; a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget! Over 30 million people all around the world have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music that make Mamma Mia! the ultimate feel-good show! Writer Catherine Johnson’s sunny, funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, and every night everyone’s having the time of their lives! With more productions playing internationally than any other musical, Mamma Mia! is a global smash hit! The performance schedule is: Tuesday, September 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This show is suitable for most audiences. Parental guidance is recommended.

Back by popular demand and on the heels of its sold-out North Texas premiere, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams star in Tuna Does Vegas. The hilarity begins when characters from the ‘third smallest town in Texas’ take a rambling romp in Sin City. Arles and Bertha plan to renew their wedding vows, Inita and Helen from the Tastee Kreme take a spin as showgirls, Joe Bob goes on the Rush Limbaugh diet, and Vera and Pearl battle over the slot machines. You’ll bust out laughing when Leonard’s wife accidentally stuffs a $20 bill into a male dancer’s underwear and goes back for change. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas! The performance schedule is: Tuesday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 24 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Traditional TUNA humor and innuendo. Parental guidance is recommended.

“And this is just our Summer production schedule,” states Yockey. “Be sure to mark your calendars and save the dates for our 50th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, July 5 and our Golden Anniversary Gala on Saturday, August 23. More details regarding these special events will be announced soon.”
