Welcome to another installment of the DFW Theater Scene Podcast Series. In this podcast series, I will be talking with some of the insiders of DFW theatre: directors, actors, producers, artistic directors, crew, playwrights and more.
Today I had a chat with Mark-Brian Sonna of MBS Productions (click here to visit their website), who specializes in what he calls “New Theatre”: New Plays, New Musicals, New Translations and New Adaptations of Classic Works. As their website states, they “are the only theatrical production company in North Texas that specializes in exclusively producing works previously unseen for the stage. [Their] audiences are the most adventurous, sophisticated, and eager, for they know that they’ll get to experience new works for the stage.”
In part 2 of this 2-part interview (listen to part 1 now), we talk about his upcoming play Homeland Insecurity or How I Learned to Love the Patriot Act by Bretton B. Holmes which runs from June 12th through June 28th, 2008. We also talk about the last play in MBS Productions 2007-2008 season titled A New Drama by Tamayo y Baus. The classic Spanish play was translated by Mark-Brian and it runs from July 10th through Kuly 26th, 2008.
