Five Weeks Left Until Deadline of Stage West Playwriting Competition

Stage West LogoStage West is pleased to announce its 2nd annual Texas Playwriting Competition! Last year’s was very successful, and we’re looking forward to more great submissions this year. Click here (PDF) for more info, and an entry form you can print and submit.

Final Draft ScreenshotThe basics are the same: the winning playwright receives a $250 prize, and the play will be workshopped and presented in a staged reading. Entries must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Writers will be notified by June 15.

Applicants should have lived in Texas for at least 2 years, though current residency is not required. Non-current residents should include a statement indicating his/her ties to Texas.

The play must have not had prior professional productions. University and workshop productions, and staged readings, are acceptable.

Each writer or team may only send one entry.

No restrictions on subject matter, format, cast size (though less than 8 is preferable), or style.
