Brief Synopsis:
Set in Canada immediately before, during, and after World War I, Mary’s Wedding is a story of two young lovers told as flashbacks within a dream. Unbound by time, unabashedly romantic, and distinctly contemporary in theatrical style and setting, this beautiful, award-winning love story has captivated audiences all over North America.
Roles:
Charlie: Early 20’s – “Wet behind the ears” Canadian soldier of World War I fighting overseas in Europe. Captures Mary’s heart with his naïveté and his love for the rush of mounting a horse and galloping faster than the lightening can crash. Identifies with the Tennyson’s poem “Charge of the Light Brigade.”
Mary: Early 20’s – A dreamer. A brave innocent. A British young lady whose family sought adventure “to live with the colonists in the wilds of the Canadas.” She loves thunderstorms yet is fearful of riding a horse. Identifies with the Tennyson’s poem “The Lady of Shalott.” (British accent required.) Will also play Sergeant Flowers, Charlie’s commanding officer.
