Denton Community Theatre’s new outreach program for adults interested in aspects of the theatre, Second Saturdays Seminar, will continue Saturday, March 8, 2008. All programs are free and run from 1-3 p.m. at the historic Campus Theatre, 214 W. Hickory St., Denton 76201.
Mike Barrow, DCT’s new Managing Director, will host an open talkback program to meet and greet DCT patrons, members, and volunteers. In addition to general questions and answers, Mr. Barrow is especially interested in hearing about plays and musicals that audience members would like to see produced by DCT in the future.
Mr. Barrow is the son of DCT founders Betty Ann and the late Frank Barrow, and has come back to helm the community theatre after more than 20 years in corporate management. A former theatre major at UNT, he’s thrilled to be working back in his home town, and is committed to finding ways to make Denton’s internationally-renowned community theatre even stronger.
The Second Saturdays Seminars series has proven to be a very popular outreach program since its inception in February, covering topics such as theatre management, auditions, blocking, and stage management.
Other topics, covering aspects of the theatre both backstage and onstage, and will follow. Time for questions and answers is built into all programs.
This program is produced with support from the City of Denton, the Greater Denton Arts Council, The Arts Guild of Denton, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
All Second Saturday programs are free, but reservations are encouraged. Please contact Julie Brinker at 940 382-7014 or email thedctteam@campustheatre.com to reserve a place.
